Introducing Rowdy Earrings MX. LABELED and Giveaway

I am so excited to announce Rowdy’s new line of earrings: MX. LABELED! I have been working hard to get these beauties made, and I want to to kick things off properly. So here we go!

First…

[image description: three different hot awesome queer people modeling MX. LABELED earrings.]

These diamond-shaped charms are 1.25-inches square and hang from 1-inch long gunmetal chains for a total drop length of approximately 3 inches. Despite their size, they are extremely lightweight and comfortable to wear.

I’ve added some new words to the mix, including: butch, stud, dykequeen, nerd, fairy, homo, gay and fat, in addition to the following pronouns: he, she, they, ey and ze.

There are also new colors! Some are glittery, some are shimmery, some GLOW-IN-THE-DARK. Colors are hand mixed in short runs, so each batch will be different.

[image description: four photos of flat diamond shaped earrings. they are grouped by color and each earring has a different word printed over a different color and/or glitter background]

I’m constantly trying out new colors and glitters, so the collection will be always evolving.

…and of course, custom orders are always welcome!

Check out all the new earrings in the Rowdy Baubles Etsy shop!

Finally…the GIVEAWAY! Follow the instructions below to win a CUSTOM PAIR of earrings – your colors, your words!

EDIT: The giveaway has ended and winners have been selected. Thanks!

Rowdy Baubles Featured in Curve Magazine!

[image description: photo me holding a magazine open and pointing to where my "gndrfckr" necklaces are pictured]

Check it out! Rowdy Baubles is featured in the current issue of Curve Magazine. The feature profiles stylish items for Pride season – not your usual cheap plastic rainbow beads! My “gndrfckr” glitter resin necklaces are featured prominently, as are other awesome items from indie crafters (like me) as well as a few corporate designers.

I think it’s awesome that Curve chose to profile pride items from Etsy, and hopefully this will be great promotion for Rowdy and all of the businesses listed.

However, I can’t say that I am pleased by the rest of the articles…

Rowdy Relaunched!

[photo of four glittery "neither" necklaces]

Since Rowdy launched eight months ago, I’ve learned A LOT.  Now I’m back to blogging and excited to continue working to make Rowdy the absolute best it can be. I’ve been so touched by all the feedback, photos and love I have received, from friends and total strangers all over the world. I spent last summer building Rowdy because I believed in it – and it feels sooooooo good to know that you believe in it too.

I’ve expanded the collection to include etched copper jewelry in addition to the original resin line. My pronoun jewelry has been a big hit as well! And don’t forget those awesome Dichotomy necklaces, glamorous one-of-a-kind necklaces and earrings, House Pride Hogwarts jewelry and beautiful sea creature themed pieces.

And there is even more to come! In the coming months I will be launching a new line of word-based mix-and-match resin earrings as well as Glam Strands, a collection of easy-to-wear convertible necklaces and bracelets.. This blog is going to become the central location for all things Rowdy – so stay tuned. News, events, sales, giveaways, webcomics, recipes, fashion inspiration…who knows! We may even have some guest bloggers.

As always, I hope that you will help Rowdy Baubles continue to expand. If you think your local queer center or radical bookstore needs to be carrying Rowdy goods, let me know! If you’d like to commission a special item from Rowdy for your organization, or if you would like to have Rowdy Baubles be a part of your organization’s silent auction or fundraiser, please get in touch. You can reach me through the Etsy shop or email me directly at: rowdybaubles@yahoo.com

Even just posting a link to us on Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter or Pinterest is a big help!

Additionally, I’ll be vending at the Fremont Sunday Market here in Seattle select Sundays throughout the summer (starting tomorrow!). I won’t have the resin pieces there but I will have tons of exclusive new sea creature etchings, like this one:

To celebrate reaching 100 likes on Facebook, I’m having a sale!

Summer is approaching ! That means bare necks and of course, Pride. Shop the Etsy shop with coupon code “FB100″ until the end of May for 25% off!

Thank you all for your continued support. Here’s to staying Rowdy all summer long!

Holiday Preview I:

I’ve got a lot of things in the works to stock the shop for the winter gift-giving season. I’m having a lot of fun pushing the limits of my creativity and technique! Today I finished off three new pieces:

Expect these (& others!) to be listed in the shop on Saturday. Every weekend in November I’ll be listing new stuff, so stay tuned!

I’ve always been a sucker for tourmalinated quartz. Something about those dark shocks of black tourmaline running through crystal clear quartz…it’s an incredibly beautiful stone. There’s a lot of variation in the pattern and clarity available – these stones are high-quality with quartz ranging from clear to slightly cloudy with distinct strings of tourmaline. I’ve dangled them from hammered & oxidized sterling-filled  headpins and strung them between gorgeous rondelles of black lava stone. The pendant measures about 2″ across with a longest drop of 2″. It is strung on black cotton cord with gunmetal findings. 18″ long extends to 21″.

Aren’t these hematite stars amazing? Here I’ve strung five of them on a hammered steel wire pendant with iridescent Swarovski crystals in between. This pendant is 3″ across. Chain is a lovely antique silver color and measures 18″, extending to 21″.

This lovely rainbow bar necklace is a more petite version of one I posted last week. It is about 2.5″ across and wrapped with 14 4mm Swarvoski crystals making a full rainbow. I’ve strung it on black cotton cord for increased wearability. 18″ extends to 21″, gunmetal findings.

Tuesday Preview: NEW LISTINGS & SALE!

Well, I had a great time at Quickball this weekend. It was really fun to show people my work in person. I got a terrific response from folks & I hope that the enthusiasm for Rowdy Baubles only continues to grow.

Speaking of which, have you liked us on facebook yet? Go to facebook.com/rowdybaubles & click “like”. Once we hit 50 likes I will have a big sale as a thank you!

There are a bunch of new listings up on Etsy today! A bunch of new Dichotomy pieces, metal styles and custom options in metal and resin. Plus ready-to-ship mini neckties in several colors and SALE imperfect resin pendants! Check it out!

This hot little number was a big hit this weekend. Made of an eco-friendly material called ferrite ore, this piece is rugged and bold. It is strung on a matching black cotton cord with silver lobster and extender chain. Sweet.

Welcome to Rowdy Baubles!

The Etsy is up, the Facebook is live, the business cards have been printed & Rowdy Baubles is here!

This weekend I’ll be making my Seattle debut at Seattle Quickball. I admit to being terrified & excited! It’s one thing to put my work online, it’s another to show it to people face to face. So far I’ve gotten great feedback from wearing my pieces out, but it’s still nerve-wracking. I’m hard at work in the studio (aka my desk) this week, making sure I have plenty of awesome items to offer. Also, there will be sale pricing for the event, special items and gluten-free cookies!

I’m also raising money for Reteaching Gender and Sexuality! I have a collection of my less-than perfects or test designs that I’ve made into pins. I’ll be selling them for $7 each, and $1 from each sale will go to Reteaching Gender and Sexuality!

Can’t make it to Quickball? Use coupon code QUICKBALL on the Rowdy Baubles Etsy & get free US shipping.

Also, spread the word about Rowdy Baubles! When the Facebook page reaches 50 likes, I’ll do a special sale as thanks!

Expect an update tomorrow of new pieces in the works…

Rowdy Baubles is OPEN!

…and ahead of schedule!

Tuesday Preview: the Resin Collection (part I)

It’s Tuesday Preview time! This week I will be showing off some of my new resin designs.

rowdy baubles colors: pink, purple, turquoise & black

Pink, black, purple and turquoise: the Rowdy Baubles custom color options! All of the colors are vibrant and feature tons (TONS!) of glitter. Every piece is hand-stamped with vintage letterpress and then backed with the color of your choice. It is a multi-step process that takes a few days – but the results are definitely worth it!

queer pendant silver on turquoise

These small pendants come in nine different words: queer, fierce, boi, femme, geek, trans*, gndrfckr, neither and diva. The pendant measures 1.25″ across and .75″ top to bottom. They have a lovely beveled edge and are about .25″ deep. Each made-to-order pendant comes as a finished 18″ necklace that extends to 21″.

These are the large pendants. They measure a full three inches across and definitely make a statement: “queer!“. The silver text is available on all four RB colors, however the black text is only available on silver.

Here is the lovely Sky modeling the “queer!” pendant in black on silver. Aren’t they sparkly?

Tuesday Preview: the Dark Side Collection

In three weeks, the online side of Rowdy Baubles will go live & I will make my Seattle debut at Quickball! In anticipation of the big day(s), I’m posting some previews of what you can expect to see coming out of Rowdy Baubles.

Today is: the Dark Side Collection! From time to time I will feature a series of one-of-a-kind pieces that embody a certain theme. & how better to kick things off than with a glamorous mix of sparkling crystal and luminous mixed metal? This collection is about contrast: light and dark, matte & glossy, hard & soft. It’s a sexy collection with designs that range from decadent to casual.

You can check out all my photos on Flickr, but here are some highlights:

Dichotomy I necklace

I love these “Dichotomy” necklaces. It’s a riot of visual and physical texture. Mixed chain, gorgeous Swarovksi crystal and cotton cord. Endlessly versatile!

This is part of the “Icicles” series. I fell in love with these gunmetal icicles the very first time I saw them. Combined with crystal triangles into an over-the-top bib necklace – this is piece guaranteed to get noticed.

Last, (but certainly not least!) is this lovely necklace from the “Rings” series. Those rectangles are actually sewing notions! Their unique shape & hefty weight give this piece great movement. The angles are always changing. Very fun to wear!

See you next Tuesday for a sneak peek into Rowdy Baubles new resin designs!

rowdy baubles: coming soon to Seattle Quickball!

Rowdy Baubles will be making its big debut NEXT MONTH!

I’ll be at the Dirty Fall Quickball Tournament benefitting Reteaching Gender and Sexuality to show off some of my latest creations. It will be the a first time out for Rowdy Baubles – exciting indeed! There’s so much I need to get done before then – I’ll be creating nonstop for the next few weeks! But I’m really thrilled to get out there & see what people think. I will hopefully have a good-sized collection to shop, featuring introductory pricing & even some of my flubs at bargain prices. I’m also excited to get lots of feedback & hear from all of YOU what you would like to see coming from Rowdy Baubles.
